A Mechanism For Sleepanism

I personally find that if I think of anything at all, I am unable to fall to sleep. The classic method of counting sheep as they bound over wooden fence does not work for me.
The cause of this, possibly, is that I think in tangents.
This is likely relevant to all people. But I think it’s safe to say it is more prominent in my thought process than most.
So if I were to think of house robbery. I’d probably think of how I’d rob a house. And whose house would be best to rob. When the best time to rob would be. But then I’d also wonder how I defend my house from robbery. Where do I store the shotgun? Should I keep it loaded? Should I wire it to a trip line to automatically fire off upon trespass?
I’d then think what would happen if I were to accidentally step on my own trip line. Better yet, what if I were to step on the trip line, while returning from a robbery? That’s irony for you.
And I’d consider irony. And I’d wonder if I have enough iron in my system. And does it often fight with Vitamin C? I do seem to have a lacking of vitamin C, perhaps its Iron that is causing this.
Speaking of fights I’d wonder what it would be like to be in a fight. And what would I do to win in this fight? Or would I just run?
And then I’d wonder what it would be like to run (because it’s obviously what I’d do). I’d wonder what it would be like had I worn my running shoes. I’d also wonder if I would have been able to get away had I worn said running shoes.
So you see. When it really comes down to it. Not thinking is the best way to fall into sleep.
The problem is that I’ve not found this to be consistent. Some of the easiest moments of sleep have come to me through imagining life scenarios.
I think what I’m trying to say is that I don’t have anything specific to think of when trying to attain sleep. … But sometimes I do, and when I do, its life scenarios. Like playing a movie in my head.

I sleep best when I’m dating someone that I really care about… especially when she’s an anasthesiologist.
My buddy told me a little trick. Hold your arms into the air for as long as possible. You will just pass out after a while. It hasn’t worked for me yet though. Of the two times I tried one I just decided to stop, and the other, totally worth it, I fell into a half awake half dreaming state in which I was conscious and my brain created amazing displays and thoughts. Kinda like being on mushrooms but less intense. It wasn’t like lucid dreaming though, I was too awake.
@Adamman: Thats awesome! I love lucid dreaming. I’ll have to give that method a try, perhaps this weekend?
